Contribution Terms of Service

You are being asked to contribute your recollections, images, video, and/or other media to the What We Did Here: Activism at Gettysburg College digital collection, which is developing a permanent digital record of the events involving student activism at Gettysburg College and the surrounding community.

By submitting your contribution, you grant an Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) Creative Commons License to Gettysburg College’s Musselman Library and Special Collections and College Archives to preserve, reproduce, and distribute your work as part of the What We Did Here: Activism at Gettysburg College digital collection. This means other people can take your content and reuse, remix, and transform it, but must give you credit, and they may not use it for commercial purposes. You retain ownership and copyright of your content. This is a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license. This permission includes the right to modify your material to conform to the goals of the project, to reformat it as necessary to preserve its perceptibility and usefulness, and to make it available for educational, research, and promotional purposes outside of the project, in perpetuity and in all media formats.

The material you submit must have been created by you, wholly original, and shall not be copied from or based, in whole or in part, upon any other photographic, literary, or other material, except to the extent that such material is in the public domain, or if you have permission of the copyright owner, or its use is allowed by "Fair Use" as prescribed by the terms of United States copyright law (cf. Title 17 of the U.S. Code).  Further, submitted material must not violate any confidentiality, privacy, security or other laws. We reserve the right to mark any submission private that our staff or partners identify as offensive or abusive.

You must be 18 years of age or older or have the permission of a parent either directly or through agreement with a student project or student organization to submit material to us. Your submission of material constitutes your permission for, and consent to, its dissemination and use in connection with this project in all media in perpetuity.

In granting this permission, you warrant that you are 18 years of age or older and have the full power and authority to consent to this agreement, that your submission does not infringe any existing copyright or contain any libelous matter, nor invade any third party rights of privacy or publicity. You further agree to defend and hold harmless Gettysburg College and other project partners, its board of trustees, and its officers, employees, and agents against all claims, demands, costs, and expenses including attorney's fees incurred for any and all claims of copyright infringement or any other legal or regulatory course of action arising from the use of your material.

Your participation in this project will allow the public, the Gettysburg College community, and future students and historians, to gain a greater understanding of these events and the response to them.

If you indicate on the form that your submission is “public,” your material may be published (with or without your name, depending on what you have indicated). Otherwise, your response will only be available to approved researchers using the collection.
