About

In 2016, a group of Gettysburg College alumni sought to raise awareness of the history of the Vietnam War era and honor those classmates who served in the military during the conflict.  They formed the Vietnam Memorial Committee and approached with library staff about creating a Vietnam War Era collection.

The Vietnam Memory Project grew out of this collaboration as a way to digitally capture the memories of members of the Gettysburg College community, whether those memories are of military service or life on campus.

We encourage students, scholars, and the general public to use these images, stories, and documents to enhance their understanding of the Vietnam War and its impact on American society.
